Accelerating Circularity – that’s a wrap of Workshop 3!
Accelerating Circularity – that’s a wrap of Workshop 3!
We’ve just wrapped up a full day of collaboration and learning as part of the Nordic Circular Design Programme, bringing together 30 forward-thinking companies for two focused workshops, tailored for an executive track and an R&D track within the participating companies:
"𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽 𝗮 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻" (𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸)
This workshop focused on collaboration within value chains and ecosystems, enabling participants to model a target state for their circular value chain. Through system-level modeling, the participants gained a comprehensive view of the opportunities and challenges in their circular transitions.
The objective was to help companies map their circular value chains, discover business opportunities, and support strategic decision-making.
“𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗖𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗟𝗖𝗔) 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻" (𝗥&𝗗 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸)
In this session, our goal was to tackle the complexities of circular design and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). Our aim was to connect the participants with peers to collaborate on tackling real-world challenges, and create value beyond environmental compliance.
🔹Circularity in Practice – How LCA can guide decision making in strategies like Design for Disassembly and Closed-Loop Recycling.
🔹Addressing Key Challenges – Tackling issues like system boundaries and data reliability in circular LCAs.
🔹The Role of the Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) – Highlighting how the Circular Footprint Formula (CFF) and PEF Category Rules (PEFCRs) are shaping sustainability standards across industries.
LCA is not just a tool for measuring impacts—it’s a strategic enabler for circularity. By addressing challenges like multi-life cycle modeling and allocation of impacts, companies can unlock significant opportunities for value creation and long-term sustainability.
A big thank you to all the participants, moderators, and speakers who made this workshop a success. Your insights, openness to share challenges, and innovative solutions are inspiring. We’re excited to see how these ideas will shape your strategies moving forward in the Nordic Circular Design Programme!
